Hayward Field in Eugene can bring out the best in people, and that was the case in 3A girls high jump Thursday at the 2023 Oregon high school state track and field meet.

With Asbel Tellez Jaquez and Gracie Johnson from Nyssa pushing her for a couple rounds, Catlin Gabel sophomore Carolina Mauro answered the call and then some.
