BEAVERTON – Steve Fennah is back.
Jesuit High School named Fennah as the school’s new head girls varsity soccer coach in mid-January, marking the beginning of Fennah’s second term in the position.
When Fennah left Jesuit in 1998 to coach the women’s team at Oregon State, he told principal Sandy Satterberg, “I’ll be back someday.” Fennah made that statement come true when he started teaching again at Jesuit in 2008, also serving as assistant coach with the boys varsity team the past two seasons.
Fennah was the head girls soccer coach and a teacher at Jesuit from 1993 to 1998. During those five years, Jesuit’s record was a remarkable 84-2-6, the team won the Metro League championship for five consecutive years, and won state championships for four consecutive years (1994-1997).
Fennah’s Jesuit teams were also ranked in the top 8 nationally each year by the NSCAA.
From 1998 until 2008, Fennah was the head women’s soccer coach at Oregon State University. There, Fennah’s teams produced 14 All-Pac-10 Conference selections and 71 academic all-conference student-athletes. Fennah left OSU as the winningest coach in program history.
Before coaching at Jesuit, Fennah worked at Hudson’s Bay High School in Vancouver, Wash., in the English Football Association in the Sheffield Hallam region, and at St. David’s High in Wrexham, Wales.
Fennah has also been the regional ODP coach and has coaching licenses from the United States Soccer Federation “A” and the English Football Association.
Previous head coach Ken Skipper retired following the Crusaders’ state championship in November, 2009.
