LAKE OSWEGO – As goes the weather, apparently, so goes Jesuit.
In other words, Jesuit is hot.
The Crusaders rolled into the second round of the Oregon Independent Baseball Association playoffs in fine fashion Tuesday night, wiping out Bend-area champion Mountain View 19-2 at Lakeridge High School for its fifth straight playoff win.
“We’ve kind of had a problem this summer of playing down to people so it was good to come out and put up 19,” said Jesuit center fielder Devin Higgins, who went 1-for-3, homered and knocked in four runs. “That was really good, really good not to play down.”
Even better, their team’s lopsided victory left the Crusaders in great shape for the tournament games yet to come — Jesuit faced Vancouver-area champion Columbia River yesterday (Wednesday) after the Valley Times’ press deadline in the winner’s bracket championship. With a win there, Jesuit would advance to the championship game at 3 p.m. today (Thursday).
