The Beaverton High varsity football team has forfeited two of its three non-league victories, the school’s athletic director announced Tuesday.
Beaverton AD Jim Meeuwissen said Tuesday that the Beavers would forfeit two of their three non-league victories — wins over Oregon City and McKay in the season’s first two weeks — due to an unspecified violation of Oregon Schools Activities Association rules.
Meeuwissen said that Beaverton discovered the violation and self-reported the infraction to the OSAA on Oct. 15. Meuwissen said that Beaverton High received a letter from the OSAA yesterday (Wednesday) confirming the forfeits.
“You don’t want these mistakes to happen,” Meeuwissen said. “It was just a procedural breakdown, and as soon as we found out, we reported it.”
The Beavers’ season record drops to 1-3 with the forfeits, however, the losses will have no impact on Beaverton’s chances for postseason play — the Metro League season opens Oct. 3.
Beaverton beat Oregon City 34-6 to open its non-league schedule on Aug. 29, then came back the following week to beat McKay 42-20 on Sept. 5.
