It’s always a good think to say thanks. And acknowledge good deeds. So take some time next week and do just that.
On Tuesday, the city of Beaverton will present the winners of the 2010 Service to Beaverton awards that recognize outstanding volunteer service and projects in the community. The event takes place at a luncheon sponsored by the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce that will be held at Portland Community College’s Rock Creek Campus.
One of the award recognitions is bittersweet.
This year, the award for outstanding service by an individual will be given posthumously to Bruce Dalrymple, who lost his life in a battle with cancer. Over the years, Dalrymple was a key player in bringing the city of Beaverton, Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District and PCC even closer together. In fact, he helped lead efforts to create a large multipurpose recreation facility on PCC’s Rock Creek Campus that was developed by Tualatin Hills. Besides serving as a city councilor and earlier a Tualatin Hills board member, Dalrymple was active in youth sports and Beaverton Rotary.
