The Washington County Museum invites the public to attend an opening reception today (Thursday) at 6 p.m. to celebrate the arrival of two new exhibitions – “Oregon is Indian Country” and the “Print Arts Northwest Holiday Show and Sale.”
The free event will feature hors d’oeuvres, wine sponsored by Robinson Reserve, desserts sponsored by Beaverton Bakery and live acoustic guitar by local musician Kory Quinn.
The museum is one of three participating county institutions receiving an Oregon is Indian Country traveling exhibit from the Oregon Historical Society. Each one of the three exhibits explores a different topic in Native American history – the museum will present “Traditions that Bind,” an investigation of the rich cultural heritage of Oregon’s tribes, including their oral traditions, material culture, art, and traditional lifeways.
The museum’s partner organization, Print Arts Northwest, will open its new exhibition – the Holiday Show & Sale. This exhibit of over 100 Northwestern artists will showcase a vast array of printmaking styles and techniques; the show is also intended to be a great place to buy inexpensive, original artwork for those on your holiday shopping list.
Both exhibits will be on display at the museum through the month of December. The exhibits are free.
The Washington County Museum is located at 17677 N.W. Springville Road, on the PCC Rock Creek Campus.
