A 44-year-old Beaverton man died Tuesday morning, March 24, in an accident at a Welches Subway shop parking lot.
John Eugene Jarrett Jr. was killed at about 10:45 a.m. when he apparently fell from the back of his semi-truck while making a delivery at the shop near the Salmon River Road.
According to Oregon State Police and the Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office, Jarrett’s body was found by a passerby in the parking lot after two other commercial trucks drove into the lot.
State police said it appeared that Jarrett was standing on the back gate of his delivery truck and possibly fell under one of the truck’s rear tires as it trucks passed through the lot.
There were no witnesses to the accident.
Emergency responders from Hoodland Fire Department and AMR ambulance said Jarrett died at the scene.
Oregon OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Division) could be part of the investigation because the accident happened during Jarrett’s delivery rounds.
