Highway 26 will be sparkling with the holiday spirit thanks again to Shilo Inns’ annual Christmas light display, which utilizes more than 100,000 lights.
It is a sight to see for the travelers who pass by Shilo Inns’ corporate headquarters near the Cedar Hills Boulevard exit off Highway 26.
The lights will be illuminated starting, as usual, at dusk on the night after Thanksgiving (Nov. 28), and will continue every evening through New Year’s Eve.
“The Christmas holiday season is my family’s favorite time of year,” said Mark Hemstreet, owner of Shilo Inns. “We love everything it stands for – the birth of Jesus, The Prince of Peace, and time to be with family and friends.”
Hemstreet added that the lights are a tribute to United States veterans and troops. “We appreciate very much everything they are doing for our country and it is our humble way to say ‘thank you,’” he said.
The Shilo corporate office, located at 11600 S.W. Shilo Lane in Portland, is also an official drop-off site for the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves’ Toys for Tots Foundation, a drive that delivers new toys to children in the community.
Last year, Shilo surpassed donation goals and this year the company invites all members of the community to help light up children’s holidays by dropping off new, unwrapped toys to the collection box at Shilo’s headquarters.
“And on behalf of all our dedicated Shilo employees, Shilo will be contributing $2,500 again this year for a variety of children’s toys, books, games and bikes,” Hemstreet added.
