West Slope neighbors will have to live a little longer with the rundown greenhouse that has been a blight on the neighborhood for years after convincing the City Council to reject a proposed residential subdivision for 10 single-family homes on the site.
Meanwhile, property owner Ronnie Wilson plans to regroup and re-file a development application for the property located north of Canyon Lane, south of Pointer Road and east of 75th Avenue in the heart of an established neighborhood.
In a split decision Monday night, Councilors Betty Bode, Cathy Stanton and Dennis Doyle sided with neighbors appealing the Planning Commission’s approval of the proposed Wilson Estates residential subdivision.
“My decision comes down to livability,” Bode said. “This development would have a negative impact on neighbors. It’s not compatible.”
Stanton agreed.
“It’s too much, too close together,” Stanton added. “I don’t think this fits.”
