ADVERTISEMENTS
Two Portland men have pleaded not guilty to charges of sexually abusing a 14-year-old Aloha girl they met through the MySpace Web site.
Jover Mabaet, 21, and Dennis Keomoungkhoune, 21, pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of three counts of first-degree burglary, three counts of third-degree rape and using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct (two counts for Mabaet and one for Koemoungkhoune.
Koemoungkhoune is a registered sex offender who has spent time in Oregon’s prison system.
The two men were arrested Jan. 12 by sheriff’s detectives after the girl’s father discovered them in bed with his daughter at his house.
Detectives are also concerned that both men might be involved with other young girls they met or interacted with on MySpace.
Mabaet is under investigation for a relationship he cultivated with another underage girl on MySpace.
Both men are being held on $370,000.00 bail.
I completely agree with the person who posted the comment about it being a case of bad parenting. It is not Myspace's fault at all. its the parents fault for not monitoring what theyr kids are doing on the internet. And i also agree that Myspace should be the ones sueing the parents. So DONT BLAME MYSPACE

its is reported that one is a Registered Sex Offender and was on Supervision in Washinton County. Was he passing polygrahs, addendin treatment and receiving regular home visits? With the ability for the Parole Officer to simply slip a disk in his computer and retrieve all of his computer history...makes me wonder if this was ever done. Most likely,if he was being closely supervised it would have been difficult for him to slip through all the cracks and committing another sex crime. Seems like many recent offenses have been committed due to little or no supervision.

Re: Men arraigned on sex abuse with girl they met on MySpace
Obviously we don't have the whole story here, but it's pretty clear we have, at least, a case of bad parenting. I mean, if IU had a 14-year-old daughter I would have already warned her against even talking to a guy that looks like the fellow on the left.
MySpace ought to sue the parents for negligence, instead of what will likely be a lawsuit against MySpace.
