ACMA choir joins city’s tree lighting event
The Advanced Vocal Ensemble from Beaverton’s Arts and Communication Magnet Academy will perform at Friday night’s tree lighting celebration at Beaverton City Park.
Beginning at 6:50 p.m., students will welcome families as they arrive for the program as they perform the holiday songs “Carol of the Bells,” “I’ll be Home for Christmas” and “It’s a Holiday Season.”
Led by vocal director Rauol Bellis-Squires, the choir is an audition-based ensemble featuring students with diverse artistic talents in such backgrounds as dance, graphic design, acting, photography and a variety of musical instruments. The Advanced Vocal Ensemble will also be performing Dec. 10 with Northwest Fusion, a pre-professional dance troupe, and on Dec. 17 at ACMA’s holiday concert.
The tree lighting program begins at 7 p.m. with a visit from Santa, a community sing-along and additional performances by Radio Disney and Beaverton Youth Cheer and Dance.
Prior to Friday’s tree lighting, the city will hold an open house between 5:30 and 6:50 p.m. inside the Beaverton City Library, 12375 S.W. Fifth St. It will feature a children’s holiday craft workshop, presented by Radio Disney, and several booths highlighting city programs, upcoming events and city-sponsored projects.
