Shelter puts black cats on path to new homes

Adoption fees cut in half to help friendly felines find loving homes in time for Halloween

Hillsboro's Bonnie L. Hays Small Animal Shelter is offering a Black Cat Adoption Special, letting prospective pet owners pick up a new feline friend for 50 percent off.

Do you fancy bringing home a black cat for Halloween?

If you’re ready to adopt a new feline friend, then you are in for a treat.

The Bonnie L. Hays Small Animal Shelter in Hillsboro is offering a Black Cat Adoption Special.

All kittens that are black or have black in their coat are half-off the adoption fees. That means a spook-tacular treat for those who can scare up the $40 for the adoption fee. And, all adult cats of any color are half-off the adoption fees and available for just $25.

The adoption special runs through 5:30 p.m. on Halloween.

You can also stop by the Hillsboro shelter, 1901 S.W. 24th Ave., Thursday, Friday or Saturday between 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

There are 10 all-black cats awaiting adoption including a playful Raven, at top; sweet Lucy; mellow Calypso, left; and an energetic quartet of Huey, Duey, Louie and Stuey, above.

All cats are spayed or neutered and up to date on their shots.
