Olive Evangeline Bernhardt
April 9, 1911 — April 11, 2008
Olive Evangeline Bernhardt died April 11, two days after her 97th birthday.
Born April 9, 1911, in Ballston Spa, N.Y., she was named Olive Evangeline Paddock.
In 1924 she moved to Oakridge in Oregon, and in 1929 she married Howard Bernhardt.
A son, Bill, was born in 1931 and son, Gary, in 1938.
The family moved to Beaverton in 1945.
Mr. Bernhardt died in 1983, and Mrs. Bernhardt continued to live in their same house in Beaverton until November 2007.
She had been employed as a sales clerk at Sinnerud Men’s Store.
Surviving are her son Gary; sisters Eleanor Fisher and June Poggi; brother James Paddock; daughters-in-law Beverly Bernhardt and Tana Bernhardt; nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband Howard, were son Bill Bernhardt, brother Worden Paddock and sister Etta Herdon, who died April 13 this year.
A memorial service was conducted April 18 in Bethel Congregational United Church of Christ in Beaverton.

Oct. 24, 1950 — April 10, 2008
Native Oregonian Richard (Dick) Powell Davidson suffered a heart attack and died April 10 at his home in Vernonia. He was 57.
He was born Oct. 24, 1950, in Portland, was reared and educated in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1968.
In 1969 he married Karen Lou Allstot in Tucson, Ariz. They spent the first few years of their marriage in San Manuel, Ariz., and eventually moved to Hillsboro, where their three children were reared.
After their divorce in 1981, Mr. Davidson moved to Forest Grove, where he met JoAnn Anzaldi, who became his longtime companion. After her death in 1991 he moved to Vernonia, which he called home until his death.
He was employed as a welder for Freightliner Trucking for more than 32 years, retiring in 2005.
Mr. Davidson enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping and working in his yard. He loved to joke around, play innocent pranks on people close to him and was a good sport when the prank was played on him. He cherished the time spent with his family and friends and was loved by many.
Surviving are daughters and their husbands, Tina and Phil Gardner of Hillsboro and Tonya and Brad Hesselgesser of Portland and son Michael Davidson of Forest Grove; six grandchildren; his former wife Karen Davidson and his aunt Janny. JoAnn’s children Landon, Theresa and Jeff also survive him.
A celebration of the life of Richard Powell Davidson took place April 19 in the Forest Grove Senior Center.

May 2, 1920 — April 6, 2008
Elwood (Woody) A. Nestor died April 6 at age 87.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m. in the Tigard American Legion Post No. 158.
Mr. Nestor was born May 2, 1920, in Parsons, W. Va., where he graduated from Parsons High School on his birthday in 1937.
After graduation he drove a truck for a meat company.
In February 1940 he enlisted in the Army, in which he served for 5½ years as a medic and a truck driver at many military posts, his longest assignment being 2½ years at the Aleutian Islands in Alaska, and then his last assignment at Baxter General Hospital in Spokane Wash.
On Sept. 5, 1956, he married Patsy Bowers.
After his military discharge he worked as a school bus driver, bought a truck and became a long-haul driver.
