THEY’RE READY — The Oregon Reign readies for its Florida trip.
ADVERTISEMENTS
The Oregon Reign lacrosse team will take its talents to the US Lacrosse U-15 national tournament for the first time ever.
The tournament is a three-day event held in Orlando, Fla., and includes 25 lacrosse teams from across the nation. This will not only be the first time the Reign has ever competed in this tournament, but the first time any lacrosse team from Oregon has ever competed.
The Reign is a summer club team that was organized by head coach David Kovachevich. All 14 players are from the Beaverton area and live within the Aloha, Sunset, Beaverton and Southridge high school attendance areas.
“Lacrosse is really up and coming out here and in the northwest. I just have a feeling it is going to take off,” Kovachevich said.
The Reign have been practicing three times a week for over three weeks. The national tournament is a very competitive tournament that features some of the best teams and players in U-15 lacrosse.
“East Coast teams are born playing lacrosse. They will be faster and have more stick skills than us, but if we are physical we can do all right,” Shane Prunty said.
